New Digs!!

Hello Internet I am finally going stop just being a user and finally begin contributing to you.  Katie and I spent this past weekend looking at new apartments in the west Houston area more specifically the Energy Corridor.  We chose to look into this area of Houston because it has much easier access into the downtown areas.  After spending the whole day Saturday and most of the afternoon on Sunday we found our new apartment.  If you click on the above picture it should contain a link to the apartment website which contains a more in depth gallery.  The picture I included in this "Blog" is a picture of what our kitchen will look like, minus the furniture and decor.
Katie and I were talking about both think that this is a big step up for both of us.  My apartments in the past have be less than luxurious to say the least.  My 6 year old twin cousins Claire and Janie summed it up best by saying that my old apartment smelled like feet.
We will actually not move until May 15th.  We have enjoyed our past year in Cypress and will remember our first apartment as a married couple but we are very excited to be moving closer to Houston.
See ya later Internet!

Tripp's Early Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Tripp's birthday a week early this weekend since we will be spending next weekend in New Orleans for Meghan and Ray's wedding. Friday night Tripp and I went to dinner and spent a quiet night at home. Tripp opened his gifts from me--Wii Raquet Sports and his favorite candy Resse's Peanut Butter Eggs!! We quickly discovered that we were not so bad a badminton, ping pong, and tennis but could not get the hang of Squash. Here is Tripp trying out a game of tennis.

Saturday night some friends met us for dinner at one of our favorite eateries, Max's Wine Dive! It is this really fun restaurant/bar that serves entrees that are a unique spin on traditional meals. We enjoyed Texas Toast Grilled Cheese, Cowboy Sushi, Fried
Chicken, Drunk Bread, and more! Here was all of us after a terrific meal.

Happy Birthday, Tripp!

Mrs. Katie Griffith

It's official....I am legally Katherine Milazzo Griffith!! After spending three hours at the DPS office listening to furious customers, waiting in not one but two different lines, and hoping I had brought all of the right documentation, I made it out with a new (well temporary) driver's license. I grabbed a quick sandwich at Subway and then headed to the Social Security office. I escaped after 45 minutes of waiting and only getting fussed at once for being on my cell phone in the lobby.

It feels good to take my Tripp's last name. It is another one of the fun things marriage brings :)

Meghan's Bachelorette Party Weekend!

One of my closest friends, Meghan, is getting married in 2 weeks! She wanted a relaxing weekend getaway for her Bachelorette party so the plans were made to head to Perdido Beach, Florida. I was so happy that I could make it from Houston since the weekend fell just before my week off for Spring Break.

Friday I left work at 3:00 on the dot, jumped in the car, and headed to the airport with plenty of time to get to the airport, check my bag, and catch my flight. As some of you might know, the traffic in Houston is quite crazy but is normally bearable at 3:00 in the afternoon. I got on I-10 smoothly, hit a small patch of traffic getting on to 610, and then a few miles onto 610 I saw it--a parking lot of cars sitting on the interstate!! I was stuck, so I patiently sat in the car and sang to the music on the radio. I was moving slowly and then saw the dreaded sign that read "Highway closed at 59 Major Accident." Ummm, what was I going to do?? I have no sense of direction and I had no clue of how to get to the airport if the interstate was closed!! I picked up the phone to call Tripp at work. He was with a patient so he called me back as soon as he was free. He was able to direct me around the closed part of the interstate by looking at maps on the internet. He was a lifesaver with his patience and great sense of direction!! I finally made it back on the interstate and found out that there was a fuel spill and a major accident that caused the mess.

I made it to the airport after an hour and a half of driving!! I was so nervous that the airport was going to be full of long lines due to Spring Break. I was pleasantly surprised and was finished checking my bag and security in only 20 minutes. I even had time to eat dinner before the plane took off. When I arrived in New Orleans, Katie and Stacy picked me up and we started our drive to the beach. When we arrived, all of the girls we hanging out, eating and drinking. I was so tired from a long day at work and traveling that I called it a night early so I woulld be rested for the rest of the activities over the weekend.
Saturday, we woke up and got ready and headed to LuLu's for lunch. After a great lunch, we went to the outlet mall in Foley to do some shopping. We then went back to the condos to prepare food for the evening of bachelorette party events. We ate dinner, played a few games, and watched Meghan open up gifts. Here is a picture of Meghan reading her marriage advice.

Sunday, we got up had breakfast and cleaned up the condos. Before leaving I had to get a picture of the beautiful beach! I can't wait for Meghan and Ray to tie the knot!!!

Much to be thankful for!!

Tripp and I decided that we had put it off long enough and it was time to start writing our wedding thank you cards. We were excited to be able to let our dear friends and family know how much we were thankful for their generous gifts, but the task of writing over a hundred thank you cards is quite daunting!

As we split up the thank yous, we began to talk about how lucky we really are. Our friends and family were so much more than generous and their gifts have allowed us to start our life together with more than we ever wanted. What we were reminded of most while thinking about our wedding was that we have a ton of loving and supportive people in our lives that are there to support us and provide great models of marriage and family. I don't think that we will ever be able  to express all of our gratitude.

This is Tripp working on his thank yous...haha!

Visit from my parents!

My parents drove to Houston last Sunday for another round of treatment for my dad at MD Anderson. They decided to spend Sunday night at our apartment before heading to the medical center for their appointments on Monday and Tuesday. We were very excited to have apartment guests to use our newly accessorized guest bathroom and our guest bedroom. We were also excited to eat delicious crawfish etouffee and boiled shrimp.

Tripp and I decided to make dessert using some of our new kitchen gadgets. We decided to make a yummy devil's food pound cake and homemade vanilla ice cream.

After dinner we watched a movie and headed to bed. It was a fun night!
